Small businesses looking to enhance their business performance and competitive edge should take note of the National Best Practice Campaign, a new initiative supported by the Confederation of British Industry (CBI) and the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI).

The campaign is promoting the adoption and sharing of “best practice” policies among all UK businesses. It aims to advance existing ways of working or and also implement new methods or technologies that can improve business performance.

The focal point of the campaign is “Fit for the Future.” It consists of a network of partner organisations, including schemes such as Connect, which helps small businesses learn from each otherÂ’s experiences; the SME performance-measuring Benchmark Index; and IUKE, which offers visits to companies that have successfully implemented best practice initiatives.

Small businesses can contact “Fit for the Future” if they want to find out more about improving their business performance in areas such as customer service, e-business, leadership, operational performance and supply chain management.

Companies wishing to find out how to get involved in the best practice campaign should visit www.fitforthefuture.com or call 0870-600 2513.
