Searching has become one of the most popular activities on the web, with millions of people looking for products and services every day. So when customers come searching for you, can you afford to be on page 25 of the search results?

The key is reaching the right people at the right time at the right price. The increasing power of search engines as a marketing tool is evident from both the growth and evolution of the industry. Remember, your competitors who are doing well are achieving these results by being listed high in search engines for relevant keywords or phrases.

A well optimised website can provide huge volumes of traffic and resulting sales leads. You need to design, write and maintain your website to increase the chances of it appearing at the top of search engines when potential customers type in relevant keywords or phrases.

“If your company has a web presence, getting listed high up on search engines is a must as you are getting your website in front of the right people at the right time. And because those searching are actively requesting information about the products and service, there is more chance of your achieving a high rate of conversion,” comments Chrys Philalithes, European marketing director at Espotting.

You can register your website for free with search engines, but this can mean waiting a while for the registration to go through. If you pay, the process will be much quicker – days rather than months. Do remember though that submitting your website to a search engine will not automatically guarantee you a high ranking.
