For many businesses, offices and clients are now spread around the world. Technology has made it easy to stay in contact on a daily basis no matter where you’re based. However, technology isn’t always a substitute for face-to-face meetings and travel, whether it’s overseas or closer to home, can really pay off.
If you do have an up coming business trip, here’s why you should make the most of your time out of the office.
Boosting your career
Meeting colleagues or clients face-to-face, can help you build closer relationships with clients and colleagues alike by adding a face to your brand. A lot of inspiration can happen when you’re away from your desk and out interacting with people, helping you to build a new level of trust between you and your client.
Growing your own network
We all know that travel broadens the mind. It gives us a chance to get out and integrate with other cultures and allows us to be inspired by a different environment. Whilst pursuing a business motive will be the top priority on your list, it can also be beneficial to take time out and immerse yourself in your surroundings.
Manchester, has a huge selection of events, restaurants and sights to get yourself out and exploring the cities’ culture. Whether you wish to channel your inner thespian at the Palace Theatre or indulge in a fine dining experience by train, there’s always something out there to get you interacting with the city and all it has to offer.
Improving your home life
This may not seem like an obvious perk to business travellers, as being away from home for long periods of time is never enjoyable for families. That being said, when CitySuites carried out a recent survey it showed that travelling for work improved business travellers’ relationships, and even made their activities in the bedroom more adventurous!
Two thirds (62 per cent) of those questioned say that working away from home improved their relationships, and 71 per cent felt that being away from home for work said it made them appreciate their loved ones more. The survey proved that absence really does make the heart grow stronger!
Keeping yourself healthy
When travelling for long periods of time it’s easy to indulge and not being tied into a gym membership can mean that exercise becomes limited. However, this can give you a chance to get to know the city you are temporarily working in. Going for a run or walk around the city can be a great way to find your way around as well as getting exercise.
