One in two small and midsize businesses (SMBs) in the United States and France and three in four in the United Kingdom find it difficult to identify and secure qualified candidates for jobs, according to a survey released by SAP.
Conducted on behalf of SAP by WideOpen, a customer strategy consulting company, the survey focused on companies of 500 employees or fewer in the retail, hospitality and healthcare industries.
More than nine out of ten human resources (HR) and related functional roles (97 per cent in the United States and 96 per cent in the United Kingdom and France) believe that identifying qualified candidates is the greatest challenge in the recruitment process.
Companies of this size need a solution designed to meet their unique hiring requirements, with 86 per cent of respondents in the United States, 75 per cent in France and 82 per cent in the United Kingdom indicating that some form of applicant management software would enhance their ability to efficiently fill their talent pipeline and optimise their recruiting process.

Managing candidate pools is a concern, according to 91 per cent of U.S. companies, 83 per cent of UK firms and 65 per cent of French companies. Eighty-four per cent of U.S. firms, 69 per cent of French companies and 83 per cent of UK companies said they were unsure about how to properly categorise candidates from various application channels.
