Smart Cartridge director named as finalist

Suzie McCafferty, the energetic business development director for Edinburgh-based franchise Smart Cartridge, has been named as a finalist in the National Business Awards for Scotland 2006.

28-year old McCafferty’s achievements in establishing the ink cartridge refilling retail franchise both nationally and internationally have been recognised by the Awards’ panel of pre-eminent business experts.

The National Business Awards for Scotland, sponsored by Orange, allows companies of all sizes and sectors an opportunity to showcase their achievements and benchmark their successes against other enterprises. The winners will receive their awards at a glittering gala dinner at the Hilton, Glasgow on Thursday 14 September, hosted by BBC Radio Scotland’s Shereen Nanjiani.

Together with Smart Cartridge’s managing director Graham Little, McCafferty has steered the ink cartridge-refilling retailer from regional player to international brand. She has personally overseen the company’s overseas expansion, opening licensed operations in Ireland, Portugal, Spain and the Dominican Republic. This is reflected in year-on-year turnover growth, hitting £1 million last year. The team is aiming for £3 million by the end of 2006.

McCafferty says: ‘I’m extremely flattered to have been named as a finalist and to have the achievements of myself, Graham and the rest of the Smart Cartridge team recognised in this way by such an authoritative and experienced judging panel.’
