Arguably, David Beckham has become his own best business venture.
Since old Golden Balls quit football as a player in 2013, he and his wife, Victoria, the former Spice Girl, have built a portfolio of commercial interests. The former England captain has partnerships with Adidas, watch brand Tudor, life insurer AIA and drinks giant Diageo’s Haig Club whisky – all of which, according to the Sunday Times Rich List, are run though his DB Ventures company. The business involves licensing and commercialization of the David Beckham brand. DB Ventures paid a dividend of £14.5m to another Beckham company in 2019, helping give the couple an estimated combined net worth of £380m in 2021.
The former Manchester United, Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain and Los Angeles Galaxy star, the only English player to win league titles in four countries, has shares worth £1.4m in Guild Esports, an online gaming firm set to pay him £13m over the next four years as a brand ambassador.
