Bermuda

Bermuda is a British island territory stretching to 21 square miles, with lots of pink-sand beaches.

Be warned: the island life comes at a price. According to Numbeo:

  • Three-course meal for two at a mid-range restaurant: $150 (£121)
  • 1 litre of regular milk: $4.06 (£3.30)
  • 500g loaf of fresh white bread: $7.78 (£6.30)
  • One-way ticket on local transport: $4 (£3.20)
  • Basics for an 85m squared apartment: $264.17 (£213)
  • Monthly rent for one-bedroom flat: $3,315.62 (£2,673.50)

You’ll find co-working spaces in Hamilton but Bermuda doesn’t rank on Speedtest so your connection could be a tad patchy.

Expect to find fish chowder; a Bermuda Breakfast of codfish, potatoes, boiled eggs, avocado and banana; peas and rice; bread pudding; shark hash (sauteed shark liver with sherry peppers); and cassava pie.
