New competitors in the conveyancing space

Avatar photoby Small Business Team29 August 2014

Here, we look at the AA's move into the conveyancing sector.

The AA is a well-known brand across the UK; they offer excellent customer service and go above and beyond to do what they can for their customers. Recently, they have launched a conveyancing service which will be managed by Lifetime Legal. The AA received an ABS (Alternative Business Service) licence in 2013, and this move into Home Conveyancing is their first change.

There are people who are unsure about what this new conveyancing service means to them and their customer service through the AA. It is also unsure about the impact this is going to have on other firms offering a similar service. Mark Huggins, managing director of AA Ventures, said, ‘Many people are unsure where to go for conveyancing and selecting a suitable law firm can be daunting.

‘This is a logical development of the AA’s expanding range of home and legal services and a perfect fit with the AA’s ‘most trusted brand’ status.’

One of the benefits for the AA is that they already offer emergency home cover and home insurance. This introduction of conveyancing will allow their policy holders to access a range of legal documents online. They also provide a Wills service.

Whilst they already offer all of this, they seem to want to branch out and give their customers even more options than they already do. They believe it is really going to boost profits, introduce more customers to their service and provide existing customers with something they never had before.

The AA is introducing a lot of competition between other companies who also offer conveyancing. Saga are renowned for their conveyancing service alongside providing other services such as insurance in many areas. With Saga’s service, you are given a fixed price up front with no hidden fees or hourly charges. They also offer Mover Protection that could potentially reimburse your costs should the deal fall through – something many people find comfort in. The AA also offer Mover Protection for their customers.

The AA are aware of their exceptional customer service and strive to offer the same amount, if not deliver more of the same, to keep their current customers loyalty and also to gain more customers to their service. By adding conveyancing to the list of things they already offer, they have introduced themselves as a competitor on a new scale.
