Colombia

Colombia is a nation known for the Emerald Isle and its exotic fruits, due to the country’s biodiversity.

In a word, the weather can be variable. It really depends on where you are. The capital, Bogota, gets rain but Midellen is called ‘the city of eternal spring’ because the weather is pleasant all year round.

While you’re there, expect to try sancocho soup, ceviche, arepas, ajiaco (potato and chicken soup), cholado (cold drink with fruit) chocolate santafereño (hot chocolate with cheese and bread) and cocadas (coconut sugar cookies). In this part of the world particularly, the arabica coffee is great too.

You’ll find co-working spaces in Bogota, Midellen, Cali, Barranquilla and Cartagena. With average fixed broadband speeds at 94.40mbps, Colombia sits at 39th place in the world.

Day-to-day costs are low, as shown below:

  • Three course meal for two at mid-range restaurant – 90,000 col$ (£17)
  • 1 litre regular milk – 4,151.40 col$ (78p)
  • 500g loaf of fresh white bread – 4,530.28 col$ (85p)
